Dear students.
The work of the Student Council and the pressure from students
has shown results. The Educational committee of the Student Council
gathered 1000 signatures from students in one week. The President of
the Student Council then handed the signatures to the Rector and
demanded that the University library would stay open longer during
exams. The reaction to this challenge from the University and the
library was good and they have decided to keep the library open
longer during the exams.
In December the opening hours of the library will be:
Monday to Thursday: 8:15-22:00
Friday: 8:15-19:00
Saturday and Sunday: 10:00-18:00
The opening hours will be 20% longer than before. Our demand was
that during exams the library would stay open from 8-22 every day.
Unfortunately this time that is not possible, but if the students
will use the library well during these extra hours we will hopefully
have them keep the library open longer in the future. Therefor the
Student Council encourages students to use the library well during
these exams.
The Student Council would also like to remind students of the other
reading area located on campus in building such as Oddi, Lögberg,
Askja and VRII. 24 hour access to those buildings is available with
the Student Card.
