Karneval seen from outside

So glad I don't have to see things like that on tv anymore. I'm not easily embarrassed, usually, but only regarding things I myself am responsible for and I certainly refuse to take any responsibilities or accept any association with the German carnival. What does the world think of this country if they are faced with pictures like these, while the rhythm and exotic (and erotic) passion of Rio's carnival stays in people's memory? Better stop comparing Brazil with Germany, no chance for a flattering outcome for Germany.
So how does the rest of the world report about the madness of Cologne? No idea but this is what I found, it's an article describing very precisely what's going on: "..The Rose Monday parade is the high point of a week of festivities which sees Germans let down their hair, wear silly costumes and consume liberal quantities of sweets and beer.." Apparently something of a mixture of black and British humour (you can argue about the difference..) was shown in the costumes: People wearing white protection suits with masks written "I will survive H5N1" on them.. What else? Oh the music wasn't really in tune and Germany should be glad to get through the first round in this year's World Cup..
