Joining the past, the present and the future

Ok, so this time it was my turn to sit on the floor today. The price of coming late to a lecture, well, experience everything the students' life can possibly offer you. Says the optimist in me who always needs to give things a positive interpretation. The professor was so enthusiastic that I forgot the discomfort of the floor, he was raging about how journalists didn't take enough time for proper research but nevertheless write their articles proclaiming a strong and sometimes extreme opinion which is why newspapers are so bad, and by the way, nobody appreciates sociologists and their work anyway..
Today I met two of my former school mates on the campus, within 5 minutes, on the same day, within some 100m distance and I had no clue they were there. These kind of things freak me out. I never thought that staying in Berlin to study would mean meeting all these people again. They seem so out of place, seeing them at uni. But I guess many more amazing and fascinating things than that are going to happen to me there.

Silk_and_Velvet said...: haha schmidti, i'd hide from you! only in our case i obviously don't need to! anyway, no, actually it was -i knew you'd never guess- adrian and ricardo i met. ricardo was strolling up and down the yard, looking a bit lost but happy like a dog nonetheless, as usual, and adrian was in my sociology lecture because that's his second subject or something.
but hey, don't tell me thorsten and koberg are studying here, too, i'm getting really paranoid about my past hunting me down..; 3:26 pm

If you don't understand my silence you won't understand my words. I have a profound adoration for coconuts. My favourite drinks are red wine and milk. If heaven is filled with the kind of people you find in churches I don't think heaven's the place for me. I love films by Wong Kar-Wai and Tim Burton and the art of Salvador Dalì. People call them surrealists but to me their works show reality the way I see it. I believe in love at first sight, as I believe in friendship at first sight. The basis of optimism is sheer terror- that's why I am a devoted optimist. In my room there are two big maps of the world on my walls and a globe to remind me to see things from a relative perspective. I am just as materialistic as everyone else but really I hate depending on pleasures. When I was little I wanted to be an astronaut. Somehow I still do. As a child I could never fall asleep very well. Hasn't changed much. My birthday's on 6th of May. Secretly I'm always looking for someone with the same date of birth. I like swearing in English. I probably have a serious lack of discipline. It's 3 in the morning while I'm writing this and I don't feel like going to bed at all anymore tonight. I believe the reason why we are so attracted by candles is that each of us hopes to find our missing flame in the fire. I love looking at the stars. I believe plants have what people would call souls. I love surfing because I can feel the wind controlling the sail and if I don't pay attention to the slightest change then nature will always be stronger than me. It's true that you regret things you didn't do more than things you did do. I wonder why the heart and the brain contradict each other that often. I can't cope with being ignored. But that doesn't make me an attention seeker. I think patriotism is an illusion and there's no such thing as a national identity. I don't believe in borders. I don't understand how their life-style can change people and make them forget how to laugh. The only reason the Mona Lisa really is a good picture is because nobody understands her. I don't like phoning, there are only very few people I feel comfortable with on the phone. I hate using bookmarks but I can never remember the page..written some years ago.
